Helping You to Make Money Online in Kenya

Why You Should Join Payoneer (And Get Free $25)

Last Updated on October 22, 2021 By Walter Akolo 173 Comments

When you join Payoneer using my referral link here, you’ll get $25 for free once you load $1,000 to the Payoneer (whether in full or in bits).

I have been a Payoneer enthusiast since 2011 and I must admit that the experience has been fantastic :).  In fact, I don’t think any other blogger on earth has ever written a blog post like this that talks about the full benefits of Payoneer. Therefore, after you read, make sure you click on the social buttons and share with all your friends on Twitter, Facebook and other social networks. I had to write this after I realized that most people actually under-use their Payoneer accounts.

Without further ado, here we go with the advantages of the Payoneer:

1. Free $25

You get $25 for free when you sign up through my referral link. As stated above, this will come once your account gets to $1,000 cumulatively.

Full disclosure: I will get a $50 commission when you use that link and load $1,000 to your account cumulatively. For example, if you receive $100 today from Upwork, $300 next week from Fiverr and $600 the next week from Upwork to your Payoneer account, you’ll have hit that $1k cumulative figure, afterwhich we’ll both receive commission from Payoneer.

See below:

payoneer affiliate commission

Good thing is you can also become an affiliate, see point number 12 below.

“What if I don’t want to click on your referral link?” You may ask.

It’s totally okay to sign up directly from their site, but you’ll miss out on this free incentive.

2. It is Integrated With Most Top Freelancing Websites

Most freelancing websites have the Payoneer withdrawal option. These include Upwork and Fiverr among others. Payoneer is one of the best withdrawal options in these sites due to the numerous benefits listed here.

3. Withdraw from Payoneer to Your Local Bank (The Best Withdrawal Method)

If freelancing sites and your private clients pay you via Payoneer, you can send the cash directly from Payoneer to your bank account through their local bank transfer option. This is the best way to withdraw from Payoner. No bank fees. Excellent rates!

4. Withdraw Money from PayPal to Payoneer

This method no longer works for new members. It is now only applicable to those who started using the PayPal to Payoneer option before 2014.

Payoneer has a Global Payment Service (formerly US Virtual Account/US Payment Service).

Here you are given a virtual US account number. For those who were eligible to this service, they would add this account number to PayPal. For the Kenyans who use it, it is the ONLY option enables them to withdraw money from PayPal in the literal sense, meaning they actually click on “Withdraw” on their PayPal accounts, follow the prompts and the money goes to your Payoneer account.

The current official PayPal withdrawal method for Kenyans requires the use of an online Equity Bank portal.

5. Withdraw Anywhere in Their Local Currency

If you are in another country, you can easily use Payoneer to withdraw money in their local currency. This works in any country or continent.

A freelancer friend of mine was once broke in Tanzania. He simply went to an ATM and withdrew the cash in Tanzania shillings.

It offers great withdrawal rates no matter where you are.

6. Buy Stuff and Make Local Payments

You can use Payoneer to buy stuff on local supermarkets or make point of sale (POS) payments. This includes chemists, clinics, hospitals and electronic stores among hundreds of other places.

If you don’t want to incur the $3.15 ATM withdrawal fee, don’t withdraw but instead use Payoneer on the POS to buy and pay for stuff. You can buy with even as little as 1 dollar in your Payoneer account! I have actually tried this and it works great!

7. Make Online Payments

Do you want to pay your domain or hosting fees? Do you want to buy an antivirus? Have you seen something cool on Amazon or eBay that you want to buy? All these payments can be easily made using Payoneer.

8. Get Payments From Multiple Affiliate Networks

You can receive payments from different affiliate networks straight into your Payoneer account. Affiliate networks that accept the Payoneer Global Payment Service account include Amazon, CJ, ClickBank, and ShareaSale among others.

9. Request a Payment from any Client (Even Non-Payoneer Customers)

You can request a payment from any of your clients, whether or not they’re registered to Payoneer. You’ll simply fill a form and they’ll get your payment request. They’ll then have a few payment methods to choose from.

10. Excellent Customer Support

Payoneer has excellent customer support. They have even commented in this post :).

Whenever you want to ask them a question, you can quickly start a live chat and get your issue sorted in minutes.

11. Free Payoneer to Payoneer Payments

How cool is that? Other services like PayPal or Skrill have a small service charge for either sending or receiving payments. However, if you’re sending cash to your friend who also has a Payoneer account, you’ll do it at absolutely no fee. This is one of their coolest exclusive features.

12. Make Money Through Their Refer-A-Friend Program

The Payoneer Refer-A-Friend program will award you $25 when a friend you refer loads $1,000. As seen in the first benefit above, both you and the person you refer will get the $25. As you get more referrals, the Payoneer team may bump your affiliate commission to $50 per referral.

This program is only available for Payoneer account holders. Once your account has been approved, apply for the program through this link and start referring your Facebook, Twitter and other friends and both of you earn the free $25. Talk about an excellent win-win situation :).

Conclusion

Payoneer will help you to get free $25 when you load $1,000.

You will also be able to send money to your friends, family or freelancers free of charge as long as they have a Payoneer account.

Additionally, if you’re an affiliate, you’ll earn free $25 whenever you refer someone and they load $1,000. Top affiliates get $50 per referral.

All these and more benefits make it a must-have for everyone who is making money online.

I will make every effort to be updating this post whenever I get more information.

Remember to share this post with all your friends and make it go viral. At the time of writing this, there was no such post on the internet. If you’ve not signed up yet, click here to sign up with Payoneer and receive all the above benefits.

My question is. I saw an option of sending money directly from your Pioneer account to any local bank. Does this apply to also banks in Uganda?

What is your experience with your trainees in Uganda/

      Hi Victoria,

You must reach $1,000 cumulatively on your card to get that $25.

For example, one day you get $50 from Upwork, another day $200 from Fiverr, and so on. When the cumulative total hits $1,000, you get the free $25.

      Hi Michael,

      Sorry for the challenge faced.

Only PayPal can answer that question, though. Contact them. Try see if they can allow you to send to Payoneer, Equity, M-PESA or to a friend. It may take a little persuasion. Some people have been successful with the last three options above recently (Equity, M-PESA or sending to a friend).

      Thanks!

With Mpesa it is not possible coz my account is permanently limited. PayPal have said I will only transfer the funds to a US bank account. So I have opened a payoneer account which the names are same with my PayPal account. My question is that will the transfer go through.

          Hi Michael,

What I told you is what has worked for multiple people even as recently as a few weeks ago.

For Payoneer, you may be unable to add the bank account they give you under Global Payment Service to your PayPal. They disabled that option back in 2014 as stated in the post.

You’re free to try all these options and let us know what actually works for you.

          Many thanks.

I realized that the KCB Payoneer withdrawal is only in 100 dollar currency. The total charges are also lofty since I realized for 200 dollars they charged me 10 dollars and for 300 dollars they charged me 12 dollars. Is there a back that is cheaper and that allows the user to withdraw less than 100 dollars if they opt to withdraw in shillings? Thanks in advance

      Hi Joy,

The charges increased recently. Nowadays they only make financial sense when withdrawing bigger payments such as $2500 to $4,000. For $200 just use the ATMs that dispense in Kenya Shillings. And still with the KSH ATMs, note that StanChat, Barclays and KCB have extra charges of around Sh. 400, so go for other ATMs like Ecobank, CfC etc.

There’s no other local bank that allows you to withdraw in USD, yet.

    Hi Walter,

Thanks for this thread, 3 years down the line its still open and very useful . I just need to ask you something. I wish to apply for a payoneer bank transfer into my local Equity Bank account. In the process of filling in my local account details, it asks for the bank code (not BIC), which must be at least 5 digits otherwise it is refusing to accept.
I think this code is the code of the branch and all equity branches have a three digit code e.g. 015 for Mama Ngina branch, 001 for Head quarters etc.
What do I do? It cannot accept the three digits, it wants five. or more. Exactly which code is it asking for?
    Thanks.

I believe they’re talking about the SWIFT Code. In this case, the code for Equity is EQBLKENA. You can always google SWIFT/BIC codes of any bank. The info is all over the net.

      Hi Jack

      Thanks for your comment.

There are different charges for different platforms. Depending on the amount you’re withdrawing, Payoneer may be cheaper.

For example if you’re withdrawing $2000 or so, you can quickly go to a KCB dollar ATM (e.g. Kencom ATM 1 and 3), withdraw the cash in dollars and then walk in to a bureau and convert to KSH. The resultant amount will be more than any other method of withdrawal you’d wish to use for withdrawing dollars.

About responding to queries, I try respond as soon as I can and as a human being I get health, bereavement and other challenges sometimes which may cause a delay.

      Thanks and stay blessed.

    Hi Walter,
Hope you are well. Just asking for your honest opinion on what I should do. I am at the point in which I want to make a decision on whether to join equity or sign up for payoneer. I don’t mind the 8 day waiting period associated with equity. What do you advise? Please email me Thank you.

Hi Eric. I am well. Give Equity priority if you can wait the 8 days. It’s the very best in the market. Meanwhile you can slowly apply for the card also just to have a backup method. You’ll get an automatic email with this response. Thanks.

      Hi Samuel

      Unfortunately that is their policy.

You have to first load the card either via PayPal or their partners e.g. Elance, Fiverr e.t.c.

After that you will be able to do private loads.

      Hi Simone

      Thanks for your comment.

I am glad you got your Payoneer card 🙂

When you need to get cash from PayPal to Payoneer, you will first add a bank account that Payoneer will give you to PayPal. Log in to Payoneer. Click on Receive Payments. You will see some bank details. Login to PayPal. Click on Profile > Add Bank Account. Copy paste those details. Click here for tips on how to resolve that error.

Once error is resolved, you will be able to re-add the bank account.

You will then be clicking on withdraw > to bank account > follow prompts to withdraw from PayPal. The money will come to your card.

I think you can still activate your card.

Rates for Payoneer withdrawal are approximately 1% plus $3.15.

      Thanks
      Walter

Hi Akolo. Thank you for the good work you are doing. I have a question. Now that Kenyan banks are replacing the traditional ATM cards that use a magnetic strip with ones that use PIN and Chip technology, shall we still be able to withdraw money using the Payoneer Mastercard, which I believe also uses the same technology being phased out. I am concerned because I would not like to miss my payments. Kindly enlighten me.

Paul, that problem depends. I use payoneer. sometimes it send me two emails when I am loading. 1. the first email says” you have a payment pending. More action required. Honestly I have never read it this mail. 2. The second email immediately after that says you credit card has been loaded. When I go to the bank try to withdraw. the money was dispensed. If your case is different from this. then treat that as unique. Otherwise, if you’ve not gone to bank since your card was loaded. Just go and try. Thank you.

I think you should not panic. Is there an email saying your credit card has been loaded. if that came. you’re money is in the regardless of the balance written there. Of course payoneer have to update the balance online. You go to bank and try to withdraw and come. Sometimes back was desperate with money, I received an email that my card has been loaded but there was no balance shown on payoneer account. I was near bank i tried and the money still came. The balance appeared later.

How much would it cost a first time user to receive US$ 500 using Payoneer ? In other words, is it cheaper than Wire Transfer?

    • Walter Akolo says

      October 26, 2013 at 12:27 pm

      Hi Steve.

It depends on where the money is coming from. If, say the money comes from PayPal, you will be charged 1% to receive it on your card. You will then pay a one-time fee of $30 as an activation fee. So that will be roughly $35 off. In case you used an affiliate link to get the card, Payoneer will give you free $25 therefore your total charge will be $10.

It is cheaper than anything else you can think of, apart from the new Equity PayPal withdrawal method.

      Thanks

I used your affiliate link so I expect $25 (you should as well) but have no idea when they will add that to my account. Do you have a time frame? Must I withdraw from an ATM first to get the bonus? Also, I would like to withdraw the current balance from a local ATM. Should I just withdraw in a Barclays/CFC ATM or is there something I have to click in my account in payoneer before doing so? Sitaki kakadi kamezwe buana :). How do I calculate the exchange rate? Say for instance I have $60, should I just go to the ATM and withdraw $57 X 85? Tafadhali. Asante sana buda boss.

I am searching for genuine jobs online and there is this website that keeps sending me information to register. Have you heard of premier jobs which offers surveys and writing jobs online and are they genuine? Does clickbank payments work in Kenya especially for registration?

You seem well versed with the online businesses and would appreciate your input.

      Hi Lucy,

I have never heard of what you’re talking about. In fact, in my experience most survey jobs don’t work or give too much work and negligible pay. I am not a guru in that area so you can do more research for best results.

ClickBank have put a total cap on Kenya, you can’t even register. In case you somehow registered, you can add your Payoneer US Payment Service and receive from it.

I know one person who’s received a couple of payments but they registered a while back when the APO/FPO option was still there.

Note that I personally don’t advice or recommend ClickBank. If it doesn’t want Kenya then let it go and look for other non-discriminatory platforms.

      All the best

      Hi Matts,

You can withdraw up to 40k from a Barclays ATM. If it is more than this, the OTC option is slightly cheaper.

You can withdraw up to $2500 at once. If you prefer you can still withdraw multiple times from one ATM on the same day up to this amount but this will be expensive since each withdrawal will encounter the withdrawal fee of either $2.15 or $3.15.

      Cheers 🙂

      Hi Mwangi,

I am glad to hear you received it after all.

They don’t allow private loads till you first receive money either from PayPal or from a freelancing website. After that you can feel free to do private loads.

You can just get a few dollars from PayPal to the card. Then after that you can just go to Payoneer.com and click on “Load Card”. Contact me I tell you how I can help you load the card in case you need me to load for you.

Do you have the US Payment Service? To check this, go to myaccount.payoneer.com, log in then check under “Receive Money” to see if you have it. This is the service that will help you load cash from PayPal.

      Thanks,
      Walter

Hi Peter. This is likely due to a technical issue that PayPal has been experiencing, which is unrelated to Payoneer. If you call PayPal customer support and inform them of the issue they should be able to resolve it for you.

I applied for the card late in October and received it in early Dec. I have used it several times and everything you have read about it in this blog is true. I got the $25 reward as soon as my cumulative load amount hit $100.
You can’t compare it to E-pay, Kenyapesa or any other withdrawal method currently available in Kenya. For instance, it costs $4.15 to withdraw $100 while epay and kenyapesa charge $14.5 and $13.79 respectively. Apply now and stop paying undue charges. Its cheap, SAFE, and reliable, plus dollar rates as of today are 84.3.
Thanks Walter for the good job.
    Keep up!

    Hi Walter. Great article. I had two questions related to the card;
    1. Using the card, what is the maximum amount of money I can withdraw from an ATM?
    2. Is there any ATM in Kenya that allows users to withdraw cash in dollars?
Thanks in advance, and have a great day.

      Hi Samuel,

      Thanks for your comment.

      1. The maximum you can withdraw from an ATM is Sh. 40,000 from a Barclays ATM (I think also KCB). The good thing is that you can make repeat withdrawals at the same time.

      2. I don’t know of an ATM where you can withdraw in dollars. I was told of one in CfC Kenyatta Avenue but when I sent a reader there, he wasn’t successful. I believe none exists but if you hear of one please let me know.

      Thanks

Just to clarify, though, the limit on our end is $2500 per day (about 218500 Shilling). We find that in many countries you can withdraw more if you walk into the bank than at the ATM, so you may be able to get more out than the 40K Shilling if you need.

Make sure you mix your password well. Remember that application is dealing with money so passwords should really be strong. As Walter has put it clear errors are red boxes.
    Thanks

Hi Walter! I am Talia, Payoneer’s director of community. Thanks for the great write up! It’s really marvelous 🙂

I just wanted to point out a couple of things, if I may:

    1. The AdWords credit was a special gift we had for our users for a specific time frame, but it has ended. This isn’t to say we won’t have it in the future, but it isn’t available at the moment.
    2. You can’t withdraw from Payza to Payoneer at the moment.

Everything else is spot on! You can also find us on the Payoneer forums whenever you need help as well. You also have my personal email address now 🙂

Thanks again for the great post!

      Hey Mayo,

      Thanks for the comment.

The field that you did not fill in is normally highlighted in red. In short, when you get that error, scroll back up and look for a box that has red instead of black lines.

Let me know how it goes.

      Thanks

    Hi Walter,
This article is interesting, beneficial and informative. YOU ALWAYS DELIVER EVEN BEFORE IT IS ORDERED. Can you please advice me on how the card can be mailed to me now that I do not have a specific physical and mail address. I travel alot in the country and I do not know where I will be in the coming month. I work for different bosses each month and do not think their addresses will be convinient to me. I cannot rely on my home address either because it is in avery remote area in this country maybe the address has changed have never used it anyway. Thank you.
