ePAYDUKa Review – Finally A Marketplace For All Your Digital Stuff

Last Updated on July 12, 2013 By Walter Akolo 6 Comments

ePAYDUKa

ePAY-KENYA has just introduced a new digital marketplace known as ePAYDUKa. This is a website that will be dedicated to merchants who would like to sell their digital products here in Kenya and in the whole international cyberspace.

I have said it before and will say it again. The guys at ePAY-KENYA know their stuff and do a great job. So I believe this new venture will work out great for most Kenyans and international sellers who have been looking for a place to sell their downloadable stuff.

Immediately after this ePAY-KENYA installment was launched, I started receiving questions from other freelancers about it. I therefore had no option but to do an ePAYDUKa review to inform you how it works and how you can benefit from it.

What is ePAYDUKa?

As stated above, it is a digital marketplace where you can sell your digital stuff – items that don’t need shipping but rather will be downloaded after purchase.

What can you sell at ePAYDUKa?

Good question.

There are many digital products that you can create and sell in their system. These include

1.  eBooks

If you are an eBook writer, simply list your eBook there for people to buy then drive traffic by informing people that your product can be found at ePAYDUKa.

If you’ve never written an eBook and you are a freelance writer, it’s time to get writing! I have personally sold a lot of copies of my eBook and will definitely list it there soon after I do a couple of updates. Note that when you buy my eBook I’ll be emailing you a new copy whenever I push an update.

2. PLR Content and e-articles

Do people buy articles? Yes they do. Have you ever heard of PLR (Private Label Rights)?

If you haven’t, let me explain it to you a bit.

You may be a great writer but simply can’t market. Another guy on the other hand can be a great marketer who can’t write.

To make things work for both of you, you can write great content and sell the rights to the one who can’t write but can market. In internet marketing, the write-up that you’ll have for sale is referred to as PLR content.

What’s more? You can sell the same PLR content to as many people as possible. It will be up to them to see if they’ll resale it as it is, give it for free, use it as blog content or rewrite and sell as unique content. The only thing that they can’t do is sell the rights again to someone else without your consent.

3. Business Templates

The other day a friend of mine told me of a company making a good buck selling business templates.

Right now, you have an opportunity of creating some and selling them as a pack in this site. For example, you can create sample CVs, proposals and business plans among others and list them on ePAYDUKa.

4. Software

I know Kenya has some serious software gurus. In fact, we are well-known for our creativity when it comes to software design.

Why not create your own software and list it for sale? You can never know the potential amount it can give you if you don’t try.

5. Website Resources and Much More

For those who understand this, you can sell website resources such as PHP scripts among others. I am not a guru in this area but once again, those who understand can make quite something in ePAYDUKa.

Free Vendor Status for ePAY-KENYA Customers

All ePAY-KENYA customers are given a free vendor status! Remember me telling you to sign up to ePAY-KENYA a while back? In fact, I think I’ve said it a couple of times. If you did, then you get a free vendor status.

How ePAYDUKa works

  • Fill in the vendor application
  • Get the credentials for your vendor account
  • Log in and upload your products
  • You’ll receive an instant text and email notification whenever your product is sold
  • Monitor your sales reports and manage your customers and orders etc. through your vendor account.
  • Check out the FAQ area for more information
  • For quick answers, use their live chat facility

ePAYDUKA Charges

Here goes the big question: how much do you pay for ePAYDUKA services?

You’ll need to part with 12% of your selling price. When your digital product is bought, ePAYDUKa will process the payments for you and send the cash to your bank account, Mpesa, PayPal or Skrill account.

Payments are released to merchants twice a month. This works on the basis of a two-week lag. Therefore, sales from 1-15th of the month are released at the end of the month and sales from 16th to end month are released on the 15th of the following month.

What if I want to buy?

Buyers can use M-Pesa, Skrill or PayPal to buy products. This way, it is convenient for both Kenyan and international buyers.

Is the site functional?

Yes it is, albeit in their beta stage. The ePAY-KENYA team has always been on point with customer issues therefore always feel free to contact them for any questions and comments.

I believe this is one article that you wouldn’t fail to comment on. So, as usual, see you on the comments section below. Let me know what you think about this ePAYDUKa review.

ePay Duka is now fully revamped and ready to receive more sellers and buyers. Active ePay Kenya users will get a waiver of the USD 20 setup fee. Welcome to the digital market.

Thank you for this article Walter. At first I was confused as I thought the website was yet another conduit for chucking paypal money by epay. I however used their live chat facility and they clarified that it is a real digital marketplace. I am now a vendor at epay duka, uploaded a product two days ago and I have already sold one copy. I was so excited yesterday to receive an email alerting me that my product had been sold. Fairly easy to use system I must say. Kudos to the epay team for availing a global e-commerce space through which we can buy and sell digital products.

      Hi Nelson,

I am glad you have actually made a sale there. I will also be listing my eBook there soon.

Yeah, kudos to the ePAY-KENYA team!
