One of the most common questions I’ve been getting of late on my email is, “Walter, I am in a desperate situation, I need to make money now now! How can I make easy, quick money online”.
I always feel for such people, and I try to offer the best advise I can give them. Heck, I also get into such situations where I need money INSTANTLY, but can’t find an easy way to do it.
My answer to whether there is easy money is a big, YES, YES, YEEEES! But before you stone me or click the close button, there is a catch 🙁
99% of the time, no one will give you quick, easy cash. However, good money systems can ease your money making process.
What I’m saying here is that you have to use the cry now, laugh later approach. And yes, it will feel easy in future, if you do all the hard work now. So, here are a few things you can do online that can help you make easy (or should I say easier) cash in future.
Ever heard of making money while you sleep? Affiliate marketing is one of those things that will help you get there. This is where you promote stuff online for a commission.
Different legitimate sites, such as HostGator, Payoneer, Aweber etc have affiliate portals. There, you can register for free as an affiliate, refer people and start making money online as an affiliate.
All have their different rules for you to receive a commission.
For example in HostGator you must refer at least 2 people in a month, they must pay for their hosting and actually host their sites for 2 months before you get that commission in your PayPal account.
For AWeber, you need to get at least $50 in your affiliate account before you are able to cash it out. They only pay in cheque form and Kenyan banks will charge you Sh. 1500 and above for you to cash that cheque. Therefore it’s good to put a higher threshold, and cash out cheques of larger amounts for that commission to make sense.
Note that these are real sites offering real services to people. There are so many fake referral sites. Sites like jobrize, payrefe etc will NEVER pay you anything. These are fake sites meant to waste people’s time and drive fake traffic to their sites. They’ll tell you that you’ll get your referral commission once you hit a certain amount. In real sense, you’ll never be paid anything. Once you hit their stated amount you’ll have no option of accessing that cash.
Affiliate marketing is also way different from multilevel marketing (network marketing). In multilevel marketing platforms, you have to buy products (some very expensively), sell them, refer people then get paid from their sales, forming some kind of tree. Some of the known MLM platforms include GNLD, World Ventures and Forever Living Products. They do work for some, but some statistics state that MLMs have a 97% failure rate. Therefore one is more likely to lose than to gain from them.
In affiliate marketing, you don’t have to buy anything, you mostly join for free, promote real products that people will use, and get paid a commission. Legitimate platforms automatically make the payments without delays.
The hard work on affiliate marketing is setting up a sales funnel e.g. a blog or a good following in social media platforms and online forums. This blog, for example, has earned so much cash from affiliate marketing over the years. All it takes is just making sure the blog is online and some old posts keep raking in money till now.
In short, with affiliate marketing, you can earn while sleeping or even when in a comma, as long as you have that visible affiliate link in a useful post.
Outsourcing work to others
This is also huge for those people looking for easier ways to earn online. It involves getting high paying jobs from clients, then giving them out to freelancers at a lower fee.
For example, you get a project worth $500, get freelancers and pay them $150 for the project. Once the client pays you the $500 for the work, you pay your freelancers $150 and remain with $350 in revenue.
But why such a high revenue from the work? Why not pay freelancers higher?
Now, we have all heard the stories.
“The client has not paid me”.
“The client has accepted the work but went missing when it came to payments.”
These are stories that people give freelancers daily, when the payment date comes. However, to keep your team of freelancers motivated, even when clients delay, you need to have a reserve of cash somewhere at all times, enough to pay your whole team, even if your client defaults. And this, my friends, is the reason why your client probably pays you Sh. 200 per article, even if they are paid Sh. 1000 for the same.
How can I get higher paying clients?
To get high paying clients, you must have something outstanding to offer. Give your best when starting out. Work extra hard. Overdeliver. Try out higher paying sites. Create an authority blog that attracts clients in your niche. Once you do all the right things, you will be spoilt for choice where clients are concerned. This blog, for example, has gotten me some clients paying unimaginable figures.
I’ll never forget the one who paid me $100 for a 500 word article! I didn’t even outsource that, I did it myself.
However, I have gotten quite a few who pay well for writing jobs, and I outsource the work to good writers to work on them. I try to make both sides happy. The client gets his high quality job while the writer gets paid on time (and is never harassed with short deadlines).
No, I don’t have vacancies in case you want to ask.
However, consider outsourcing work as soon as possible to increase your income, and also to make your online experience smoother.
Advertising is another method that will help you earn in your sleep (or even in a comma).
There are different ways that people advertise.
You can earn from advertising platforms, the most famous one being Google AdSense, Google’s advertising platform.
Once approved by AdSense, you will be able to put up ad spaces on your blog. Google will then be running their ads and you’ll be paid depending on either the number of people who click on those ads (PPC) or people who view them (PPV). PPC simply stands for pay per click and PPV stands for pay per view.
Remember that for you to earn well, you need to have a great, useful blog. One that is loved by the target audience. If it is a blog about weddings, try make it the one-stop shop for fiances. A place where they’ll get a wealth of real information that will guide them out of their confusion from courtship to wedding to their honeymoon and beyond.
At the time of writing this, I do not use Google AdSense. I feel like it pays too little in my niche. It also drives away traffic for those pennies. For example, a post could have my HostGator link which would give me $50 per qualified referral and a Google ad which would give me $0.03 per click. A reader may click on this ad and go away from my blog to see what the link is all about, making them miss the $50 affiliate link. In short I’ll have missed$50 and gotten $0.03. Also, in my opinion, too many ads on a blog make it unattractive and crowded.
However, I don’t discourage people from using AdSense and other advertising platforms. There are many people who have used it for years and have been able to make some decent cash out of them. I may give it a try someday here or elsewhere and you’ll be among the first to know when I do.
Learn more about AdSense from the official AdSense site.
Apart from AdSense, you can also advertise in other ways such as putting up banners on your sidebar for people to advertise at a fee, doing paid blog posts that market different businesses (only legitimate ones), charging for tweets, mentions etc.
The above kinds of advertising are semi-passive, such that once you put up that ad-space, banner, etc, you’ll keep earning from it without actively being there everyday to work on it.
Personal branding is a culmination of different things. It has a lot to do with the perception that people have of you and your abilities.
Do you have sellable skills? Do people know you? Do they believe you can do a good job?
There is so much to do with personal branding and reputation management. However, we’ll focus on the above. Having sellable skills, getting known and people believing that you can deliver in your level of skill.
You must have sellable skills. These are skills that are in demand, that people can feel comfortable paying for.
In the online freelancing world, there are so many skills that are in high demand. These include transcription, article writing, academic writing, graphic design, web design, software programming e.t.c. For those doing internet marketing, skills such as search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing (SMM), search engine marketing (SEM), affiliate marketing, ad creation and blogging among others are very valuable.
There are different ways of making yourself known. Like I said above, the cry now, laugh later approach applies. Building the foundation will take lots of work and effort, but once you have a great reputation, earning online will not be as hard.
For visibility in online work platforms, register, optimize your profile, do high quality jobs for your clients and get outstanding feedback. Never be afraid to ask for feedback from a client who loves your work. This way, many clients will add you to their favorites list and give you repeat jobs. Higher paying clients will spot you and be inclined to hire you due to the great feedback. I only recommend those online marketplaces for beginners. After that, consider better ways of branding yourself through internet marketing so that you get direct clients (DCs).
As an internet marketer, you also have many ways of branding yourself. Here, we’ll define internet marketing as selling or marketing anything online, and freelancing as working on job sites such as Upwork, EssayWriters and alike.
Branding as an internet marketer is a whole different ball game.
This will involve the sum total of your online persona. From how you update your Facebook statuses, to how you tweet, to how your blog looks and even what profile picture you use in the different platforms. You need to come out as a likeable person who really cares for other people and is concerned about their success. You should be a helpful person who gives off great content. Someone who respects themselves and others.
Such a person will inspire many and sell easily.
You also have to make people believe in you. This cannot be faked. For people to believe in you, you have to DELIVER in whatever you do. You cannot be a transcription guru if you can’t transcribe well. You cannot be an internet marketing guru if the sites you market don’t get traffic. The list goes on but I believe you get the drift. Strive to deliver and always have a way of people giving feedback about your work.
In whatever you do, whether online or offline, heart-melting positive testimonials will help you perform great.
Product creation and sales
Make a bold move and create a product. There are few things online that are as rewarding as your own products. Examples of products you can create and sell online include ebooks, semi-automated email-based trainings, membership sites and software/apps among others.
These are great, semi-passive ways of making that online cash. The hard work is mostly on the creation. After creation of a good, useful product, you’ll be on a way to great profits. I have an ebook I wrote in 2012 and it sells to date. I just make minor updates on it once in a while, but it sells till now.
The cry now, laugh later approach applies in this too. It takes great effort to create a great ebook, training series, content for a membership site or software. You may even have to pay some people to help you at different levels. For example, you may need to pay someone to help you with web design and graphics. You may also need some heavy marketing whenever you launch a product, very important.
But, once your product gets viral, you start feeling like the product sells itself plus your other products.
Let me explain.
You can always have other offers whenever you sell your product. You may have heard of OTO’s (one time offers) from internet marketers. This is where once you make a payment, you are redirected to a page that only appears once to the buyer that gives them a great deal to buy another product.
Capitalize on branding on your product. Include your contact and link in header and footer, mention your other products in the content, use your affiliate links when recommending other sites and if possible create entry and exit surveys that you will use to be able to perfect your future products.
This way, from one digital product, you market many of your services and create repeat buyers for your products.
Philosophers will tell you there is nothing for free and nothing comes easy.
Cons will tell you that you can make quick, good and easy money online, working three seconds a day, sleeping clicking on things.
The rich will tell you that they are beyond working for money, money works for them.
I will tell you again that you only make easy money after hard work. Creation of profitable systems follows the hard work. It feels great when one day a client gives you a bonus, you get a tip from a buyer, your payment for a project is doubled, you make 50k from your product in the first week etc. But this only comes after working hard and smart. Try the above methods and let me know how it goes.
Also avoid desperate situations by saving in emergency accounts, joining SACCOs and other saving programs, getting insured and watching your spending habits among other methods. Be a good planner who anticipates challenges and avoids them. Avoid being conned by all means. Do not buy working accounts that you don’t know how to use. Be careful and only take calculated risks.
Do you know any other methods that you can use to make money online with less effort? Let’s talk on the comments, shall we?
